After-School Programme

Testimonial from Mr Beever of St Martins In The Field High School For Girls:

‘Working with School Ground Sounds was one of the highlights of the year! Their program was bespoke to our students’ needs and their workshop leaders were outstanding. When I heard the songs the students had composed over 8 weeks I was so impressed by the professional quality of the music and the recording. All the students who were involved are clamouring to be part of the project again and I would definitely have them in school a lot more if I could.’

Information for Schools / Teachers

The SGS After School Programme features 10 two-hour workshops per term, delivered one afternoon a week after school hours, in school.  There are typically about 15 student participants each term, most of who will continue over multiple terms.

Sessions focus on the creation of original music and development of songwriting and musicianship skills, culminating in two or three visits to a local studio to record the group’s music.

The workshops are led by two of our DBS-checked musicians, who all have youth work experience and are selected for their ability to connect with and inspire participants.  They are supported by one of our “Young Leaders” who have come through the SGS programme themselves so can easily relate to participants.

Participants will strengthen both life skills and musical skills.

The programme is aimed at schools in London who are struggling to be able to offer all the music opportunities that they would like to.  If you are a teacher at a school that might be interested, please get in touch.
